1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Information You Provide to Us
We collect information you voluntarily provide when you:
- Create a planner/couple account: name, email address, password.
- Set up a wedding event: wedding name, date, venue, and event details you enter.
- Register as a wedding guest via an opt-in form: first name, last name, mobile phone number, and optionally email address. We also record your express consent timestamp and the specific event you consented to receive messages for.
- Contact us for support: any information you include in your message.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website we may automatically collect:
- Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps.
- Device data: device type, operating system.
- Cookies and similar technologies for basic site functionality and analytics (see Section 10).
2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
We process your information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Deliver the Services — including sending SMS messages about wedding events to guests who have explicitly opted in.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Ensure the security and proper functioning of our platform.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. SMS / TEXT MESSAGING
Program Description
WeddingBot provides an SMS communication service for wedding events. Couples and wedding planners use our platform to:
- Allow guests to ask questions via SMS (answered automatically by AI using the couple's event details).
- Send transactional event-related SMS updates to opted-in guests (e.g., schedule changes, logistics, reminders).
- Notify planners when a guest question needs human follow-up.
Message type: Transactional and customer care only. No marketing or promotional messages.
Message frequency: Varies by event activity. Typically low volume (e.g., one to a few messages per wedding event).
How Guests Opt In
Guests consent to receive SMS by completing a web-based opt-in form at https://askweddingbot.com/invite (with a unique event ID provided by the couple). The form:
- Displays the wedding name, date, and venue so the guest knows exactly what they are signing up for.
- Requires first name, last name, and mobile phone number.
- Requires the guest to check a consent checkbox with the following language: "I agree to receive SMS messages about this wedding event. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe."
- Links to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service before submission.
- Cannot be submitted without the checked consent box.
Consent is event-scoped — a guest's consent for one wedding does not apply to any other event.
We store: phone number, consent timestamp, and event ID. We do not use guest phone numbers for any purpose beyond the specific event they consented to.
Opt-Out
Guests may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS. After opting out, the guest will receive one final confirmation message and will receive no further SMS from that event's number. To re-subscribe, the guest must complete the opt-in form again.
Help
Guests may reply HELP at any time to receive information about the service and opt-out instructions.
Message and Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Data Sharing — Mobile Numbers
No mobile opt-in data or consent information (including phone numbers collected for SMS) is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors who directly support SMS delivery (e.g., our SMS messaging provider), subject to confidentiality agreements.
4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We share data with vendors who help us operate the platform (e.g., cloud hosting, SMS delivery, AI inference). These vendors are contractually bound to handle data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
- AI providers: Guest questions sent via SMS may be processed by AI providers (e.g., Anthropic) to generate responses. See Section 5.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale, user information may be transferred. We will notify you in advance.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. AI-BASED PRODUCTS
WeddingBot uses AI to automatically respond to guest SMS questions. When a guest sends a question, the text of that message along with relevant wedding event details (e.g., venue, schedule) may be processed by third-party AI providers, including Anthropic, to generate a response. We do not include sensitive personal data beyond what is necessary to answer the question.
You must not send sensitive personal or financial information via SMS to WeddingBot.
6. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Guest opt-in records (phone, consent timestamp, event ID) are retained for the duration of the event and for a reasonable period thereafter for compliance purposes, then deleted or anonymized.
When you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your data unless a longer retention period is required by law.
7. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no Internet transmission is 100% secure. You use the Services at your own risk. Please use a secure environment when accessing our Services.
8. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us at privacy@askweddingbot.com and we will delete it promptly.
9. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting privacy@askweddingbot.com.
To opt out of SMS messages, reply STOP to any message or contact us directly.
To close your account and request deletion of your data, log into your account settings or email us.
10. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track (DNT) setting. We do not currently respond to DNT signals because no uniform standard exists. We use cookies only for basic site functionality and analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect site features.
11. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws, including the right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data.

California "Shine the Light": California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for direct marketing once per year. We do not make such disclosures.

Yes. We will update this Privacy Policy as needed. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email or prominent notice on the site.
